Visit to MCity at University of Michigan

On November, 2019, Dr Simon Hu and our ZJUI student Mr Kaihang Zhang visited the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI) at Ann Arbor. The meeting discussed the research on safety and mobility applications with connected and automated vehicles (CAVs), such as connected and automated vehicle (CAV) control and optimisation, traffic signal systems, cooperative vehicle and transportation infrastructure systems, and CAV testing and evaluation. Dr Yiheng Feng, the research scientist at University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI), discussed the few exciting research projects they have carried out in their research centre, including ‘Augmented reality testing environment for connected and automated vehicles’, ‘Spatiotemporal intersection control with connected and automated vehicles’. Afterwards, we discussed the ideas for future collaboration opportunities between our two research groups.

Later on, Dr Feng took us for a tour at their state-of-the-art autonomous driving testing facility at MCity.
