2020 ZJU-USYD International Cooperation Seed Fund Project
Prof. Simon Hu’s project on ‘Mobility and Logistics in the Era of the Coronavirus Pandemic’ has been selected by Zhejiang University-University of Sydney International cooperation seed fund project at 2020. The spread of the virus is facilitated by mobility and mobility is affected by the circumstances related to combating the pandemic. This project will thus develop theories, methods and models to better understand the underlying relations between the social and economic dimensions of mobility and logistics on one hand and the spread of the virus on the other hand. Such advancement contributes to the development of more resilient mobility and logistics systems. The research group of the University of Sydney will be focused on the idea of Autonomous Mobile Lockers (AML) to support couriers in the field. As an important means of logistic service innovation in delivery in recent years, the AML has been showing its strength in helping solve the last mile problem. Moreover, the research group of Zhejiang University will work on the modelling and simulation of AVs ,and also input on a case study of implementation of proposed algorithms in Hangzhou.
The project will strengthen the strategic partnership between two world-leading universities, especially among the Sydney Business School, ZJUI institute and Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at ZJU.
